  • Celestron Origin Mark II – Intelligent Home Observatory Celestron introduces the next generation of its intelligent home observatory – Origin Mark II. The system combines a 6-inch RASA astrograph (f/2.2) with an Alt-Az Go-To mount, an upgraded Sony IMX678 STARVIS 2 camera, and a built-in Raspberry Pi 4 computer with AI image processing. Everything is controlled wirelessly via the Celestron Origin app on iOS or Android. Results can be streamed to multiple devices simultaneously, including smart TVs.

  • Stargazing and Astroimaging Redefined: Celestron Origin is an intelligent, all-in-one home observatory that captures stunning views of faint, deep-sky celestial objects and delivers them to your phone or tablet. The images you capture in seconds look better than what you’d see in the eyepiece of a much larger telescope under much darker skies.
  • Revolutionary RASA Optical Technology: Origin’s patented 6” Rowe-Ackermann Schmidt Astrograph (RASA) optical design places it in a class by itself. With its large aperture and fast f/2.2 focal ratio, you get unparalleled image brightness and clarity with less exposure time.
  • Next-Generation 678C Camera: Sony’s latest Starvis 2 color CMOS technology—offering improved resolution, enhanced sensitivity, and a serious leap in image quality.
  • Automatic, AI-powered Astrophotography:As Origin captures data, built-in AI algorithms autonomously stack and process every frame in real-time. Galaxies and nebulae instantly come to life—sharp, detailed, and in brilliant color—all with no user intervention.
  • Automated Setup with StarSense: To get started, place Origin outside, turn it on, and connect to the app. Using Celestron’s patented StarSense technology, Origin scans the sky and autonomously focuses and aligns itself. You’re ready to select a target and start imaging in less than two minutes.
  • Intuitive App Interface: The user-friendly Celestron Origin Powered by SkySafari™ app for iOS and Android, developed in partnership with Simulation Curriculum offers a simple yet powerful planetarium interface, making it easy to navigate the sky and control the system.
  • Share the View with Everyone: Multiple users can use the Origin app to view the telescope’s live feed simultaneously. You can also cast the view to your smart TV or save and share it instantly.
  • Advanced Features: As you grow in the hobby, download the raw image files you capture for more advanced manual processing. You can also experiment with filters and use Origin for night-vision or land-based observing during the day.

  •
    Key Upgrades Over Origin
  • New Sony IMX678 sensor – 8.4 MP, back-illuminated, 16:9 format, higher sensitivity and lower noise

  • Front-focus camera placement – ultra-flat field from edge to edge, no distortion

  • Filter drawer – accepts 1.25" and 2" filters up to 8 mm height (light pollution, narrowband)

  • StarSense automatic alignment – ready to observe in under 2 minutes, no polar alignment needed

  • Live stacking (EAA) – 10-second subs automatically stacked and denoised in real time

  • AI post-processing – automatic gradient removal, color balance, and detail enhancement

  • Scheduled imaging – set targets in advance, collect data overnight automatically

  • Multi-user support – several phones/tablets can connect and view simultaneously

  • User-replaceable camera – upgrade the sensor without replacing the whole telescope

  • Integrated LiFePO4 battery – 97.9 Wh, 6+ hours of operation

  • Technical Specifications Optical Design Rowe-Ackermann-Schmidt Astrograph (RASA) Aperture 152 mm (6 inches) Focal Length 335 mm Focal Ratio f/2.2 Coatings StarBright XLT Camera Sensor Sony IMX678-AAQR1, 8.4 MP (3856x2180), 2.0 micron pixels Field of View 1.32 x 0.75 degrees Resolution 1.48 arcsec/pixel Mount Single-fork Alt-Az, brass worm gears, Go-To Alignment Automatic StarSense Computer Raspberry Pi 4 Model B Storage 50 GB internal Battery Integrated LiFePO4, 97.9 Wh Connectivity WiFi 2.4/5 GHz, Ethernet, USB-A, AUX Weight (assembled) approx. 18.8 kg OTA Weight approx. 7.7 kg Mount Weight approx. 7.7 kg Tripod Adjustable metal with spreader What Can You Image? Deep Sky: galaxies, nebulae, and star clusters in minutes thanks to the fast f/2.2 optics. Suitable for Bortle 4-5 skies with a light pollution filter.
Solar System: high-resolution lunar surface detail via Snapshot mode.
Terrestrial: daytime landscape photography in manual mode; night-vision-like capability in low light.
    In the Box
  • 6" RASA optical tube

  • Origin mount with integrated battery

  • Metal tripod with spreader

  • Charger and power cables

  • Front lens cap

  • User manual

  • Tip from teleskopai.lt For long-exposure deep-sky imaging, add the Celestron equatorial wedge to eliminate field rotation. For exposures beyond 30 seconds, the StarSense AutoGuider is recommended. In cold weather, battery life drops – keep an external power source or power station handy.
